TIFTON – The latest production of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College’s Baldwin Players, “’Til Beth Do Us Part”, will open on Oct. 26.
“It is a hilarious, light-hearted look at marriage and revenge,” said Baldwin Players Director Dr. Brian Ray, professor of English and Theatre at ABAC’s School of Arts and Sciences.
According to Ray, the play, written by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, and Jamie Wooten, revolves around the Haydens, a married couple, who are struggling with the burdens of being successful in business and hire an assistant to take up some of the slack. Beth comes into their lives, and soon she has the household running to peak efficiency – at a high cost to the tranquility of the Hayden home.
“When I selected this play, I wanted to bring a lot of fun to the audience,” Ray said. “This show will definitely do that. Our early rehearsals have been filled with laughter as we put together these characters and polish up their antics. When the cast and the director have this much fun just learning the lines and the character interactions, it’s a sure bet that the audience is going to enjoy the show too. Filled with one liners and funny situations, this play really lets us look at the nature of marriage and revenge in a whole new light.”
The cast includes Brook Tyra, an environmental horticulture major from Buchanan; Jennah Mercado, a wildlife conservation major from Saint Mary’s; and Fabio de Leon, a livestock production major from San Juan, PR. Also in the cast are Alena Norton and Ryan Norton, ABAC graduates and Tifton community members, and Karlee King, a community member from Fitzgerald. Assisting the director as the stage manager is Anika Rehberg, a biology major from Tifton, with Craig Mark Wells, a Tifton community member, working as the production’s assistant director.
Performances will be Oct. 26-28 in Howard Auditorium, starting at 7 p.m. The cost is $10 for general admission tickets, $5 for non-ABAC students with a valid student ID. Tickets are available at www.purplepass.com/abac, and at the door. Admission is free for ABAC students, staff, and faculty with valid ABAC ID.
