Waivers are for students who do not meet the qualification for a Georgia-resident status. However, the Board of Regents has defined situations whereby a student may still be eligible for in-state tuition and fees for a 12-month period.
The waivers listed below will cover the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition for 12 months. The students eligibility for these waivers listed below must be reviewed annually.
Presidential Waivers
To be eligible for a presidential waiver, students must have earned a 2.5 high school GPA as calculated by the ABAC Office of Enrollment Management and/or demonstrated outstanding leadership, community service, or extra-curricular activities. Transfer students must have earned a minimum transfer GPA of 2.5 as calculated by the ABAC Office of Enrollment Management. Transcripts are required. This requirement does not apply to international students attending ABAC on a visa.

ABAC Neighbor Waivers
Students from Florida, Alabama, South Carolina, Tennessee, and North Carolina (effective Spring 2019), are eligible for one of our ABAC Neighbor Waivers.
Eligible students can attend ABAC at the same tuition rate as an in-state student. You save $4,211 each semester (based on full-time enrollment for 2017-18). Over four years, that’s a savings of more than $30,000!
In most cases, students from the states above do not need to do anything other than provide evidence of domicile. For students right out of high school, the high school transcript serves as evidence of domicile. Student applying from these states will be notified if any documentation is needed beyond what is part of the usual admissions application process.
Neighbor Waivers
Academic Common Market
The Academic Common Market is a program through the Southern Regional Education Board that allows students to study in a specialized field at an out-of-state college while paying in-state tuition rates.
