Academic Support Counselors

The Academic Support Counselors (ASC) are master’s level professionals with backgrounds in education and counseling and are here to help in all areas academic.  College life is very different from high school and sometimes can seem overwhelming, but we are here to help.  Although we know the college experience exists beyond the classroom, we believe that it begins there.  Stop by our office located on the third floor of Branch Hall with any questions, concerns, or comments you may have about your academic life at ABAC. Just a few of the many achievements of the ASCs:

  • Winner of campus advising award
  • Winner of NACADA New Advisor Award
  • Winner of 5 campus Pacesetter awards
  • 2014 and 2017: Honorable Mention for Chancellor Service Award

You can also schedule an appointment to meet with any of the counselors one-on-one.

Academic Achievement Center Tutoring

The Academic Achievement Center (AAC) is ABAC’s tutoring center. The AAC is certified through the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA), ensuring all tutors are trained and qualified to help students. We employ peer tutors that meet specific qualifications; tutors can help with most courses taught at ABAC. In Tifton, the AAC is a drop-in tutoring center, which means most subjects are available for drop-in tutoring, no appointment is needed. In Bainbridge and Blakely tutoring is done by appointment. The AAC is also a great space for studying, group work and computer use.

Learning Support

Learning Support is a University System of Georgia program for entering students who need additional assistance for college-level English or math. A student’s Learning Support requirements are determined based on the required high school curriculum GPA, SAT/ACT scores, required high school curriculum deficiencies, and college placement exams scores.

The Testing Centers provide a wide range of testing services to the ABAC community. Services include but are not limited to, online testing, program-specific entrance and exit exams, proctoring services (independent learning), and placement testing. To provide professional standards in testing services that reflect positively on the institution, the Testing Center maintains membership with and adheres to guidelines set forth by the National College Testing Association.

eCore – short for electronic core-curriculum – allows University System of Georgia (USG) students the opportunity to complete the first two years of their collegiate careers in an online environment. eCore courses are taught entirely online, except for the occasional proctored exams. eCore courses are designed, developed, taught and supported by faculty and staff from the USG.
