TIFTON – An Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College junior will be doing double duty as a college student and an ambassador for the Florida beef industry.
Whitnie Yoder from Jackson County, Fla., was selected as the 2023 FCA Sweetheart at the Florida Cattlemen’s Association Annual Convention and Allied Trade Show in Marco Island, Florida.
Yoder plans to major in Agricultural Communication.
“I could not be more excited to have the opportunity to serve as the Florida Cattlemen’s Association Sweetheart this year,” Yoder said. “I am honored to represent the industry that has made me who I am today. Some of the finest people I know are connected to the Florida Cattlemen’s Association, and it brings me no greater joy than to serve alongside them, advocating for Florida beef.
“In the next few months, I hope to grow the FCA Sweetheart social media presence to reach and educate consumers and producers alike in this way,” she added. “I am so excited to attend FCA events & meetings this year & experience the way this association influences our industry.”
The Florida Cattlemen’s Sweetheart Contest was established to build favorable publicity for the Florida Cattlemen’s Association, Florida Beef Council, and the Florida CattleWomen. The FCA Sweetheart’s purpose is to promote and educate consumers about beef and the Florida beef industry. The Sweetheart is selected based on knowledge of the beef industry, communication skills, personality, poise, and appearance.
Yoder said that as much as she loves her home state, she chose to cross state lines and call herself an ABAC Stallion.
“I have heard nothing but excellent recommendations of the school,” she said. “I’ve listened to countless personal testimonies of the integrity of professors and thoroughness of the classes. I am so excited to study agricultural communication in Tifton, and one day be a proud alumni.”
As the FCA Sweetheart, Yoder be able to represent the Florida Cattlemen’s Association, the Florida Beef Council and the Florida CattleWomen at events and activities throughout the year.
