TIFTON—A performance like no other, the First Tuesday Concert will take the stage in the Chapel of All Faiths on Feb. 5 at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
The First Tuesday Concert Series at ABAC offers concerts on five selected months from October through April. Now in its 17th season, each concert begins at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of All Faiths and is open to the public at no charge.
Dr. Susan Roe, First Tuesday Concert Series Director, said the upcoming concert will feature Dr. Sara Eastwood, clarinetist; Dr. Scott Phillips, saxophonist; and Gina Lawhon, pianist. Together, they will create a magical symphony on ABAC’s campus.
Eastwood serves as the Instructor of Clarinet and Saxophone as well as the Director of the String Ensemble at ABAC. She has been heard in performances across the United States, China, France, and Croatia in notable venues such as the Shanghai Grand Theater, the National Center of the Performing Arts in Beijing, and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.
Phillips serves as an Assistant Professor of Jazz at ABAC. During his musical career, he has performed with The Temptations, jazz legends Randy Brecker, Dave Liebman, Conrad Herwig and composer/arranger Jim McNeely.
Lawhon has been the pianist at First Baptist Church in Tifton for the past 37 years. In the spring of 2015, she retired as the music education teacher at Len Lastinger Primary School.
Roe said this concert will bring a musical movement to ABAC’s campus and is sure to be a grand event for all. For more information on the First Tuesday concert, interested persons can contact Roe at sroe@abac.edu
