Suzanne W. Smith
Lecturer, Psychology and Sociology
School of Arts and Sciences
I am an ABAC graduate and have a Master's in Counseling, as well as additional training in social work. I previously worked as a therapist for children who had experienced abuse and neglect, a social worker for a public school system, and a preschool teacher. My husband and I have three children and one very spoiled dog.
I teach the introductory courses in both Psychology and Sociology, as well as courses on Gender, Marriage and Family, Social Problems, and Lifespan Development.
I co-advise the Helping Professions Association, an academic club dedicated to helping students learn more about careers in counseling, social work, and other helping professions. Our club also runs an Active Minds chapter, which is a student-led organization focusing on wellness, coping, and mental health among college students.
