TIFTON—Students in the music program at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College will be featured in three end-of-the-semester recitals beginning April 23.
Dr. Susan Roe, Head of the Department of Fine Arts at ABAC, said recitals will also be held on April 25 and April 29, all at 5 p.m. in the Chapel of All Faiths. The public is invited to attend at no charge.
“All these students have worked very hard all year long,” Roe said. “It’s a great chance to showcase their wonderful talent for the campus and the community.”
Six students will kick off the program on April 23 when they present “Sonata” from “Die Bankelsangerlieder” and “Three Pieces.” The students include Heroldany Artiga and Tyler Bennett on trumpet, Nicholas Kirkland and Jeremy Thomas on trombone, Landon Chavis on French horn, and Quincy Ball on tuba.
Soprano Cierra Pineda will follow with “The Willow Song” and “My Lord What a Morning.” Clarinetist Amanda Corey will perform “Concerto,” and flutist Cierra Pineda will offer up “Romance, Opus 1.”
Soprano Sydney Thomas will then perform “Son Pochi Fiori” from “L’Amico Fritz” and “Ride on King Jesus.” Tenor Tyler Bennett will sing “Where E’er You Walk” from “Semele,” and mezzo-soprano Stephanie Davis will follow with “Per La Gloria D’adorarvi” from “Griselda” and “Must the Winter Come so Soon” from “Vanessa.”
Saxophonist Aubreauna Marshall will conclude the event with tunes from “Sonatine Sportive.” Dr. Jennifer Huang will provide piano accompaniment for the students.
In the sophomore recital on April 25, “Blue Bossa” will be performed by Logan Milner and Rob Walker on guitar, Hyland Schmidt on bass, and Zack Hall on drums. Milner will perform “Dancing on the Ceiling,” and Zachary Hall will perform “Sonata for Timpani,” “Log Cabin Blues,” and “Tornado.”
Chavis will perform “Horn Concerto No. 1” on the French horn followed by “Rustiques” by Artiga on the trumpet. Schmidt will follow with “Hungarian Rhapsody” on the cello. Soprano Morgan Bridges will then sing “Deh Vieni, non tardar” from “Le Nozze di Figaro” and “Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again” from “Phantom of the Opera.”
Alejandra Lopez will follow with “Praise the Lord of Lords” and “Prelude on ‘Resignation’” on the organ. Jacob Hadley will perform “Tambourin Chinois” on percussion, and Corey Douglas will offer up “Sonata for Tenor Saxophone and Piano” on the tenor saxophone.
The program on April 29 opens with Chandler Price on the guitar on “Darn That Dream.” Katherine Murdock, Alexis Lascala and Anna Grace Grantham on the violin, Hyland Schmidt on the cello, and Felicity White on the harp will follow with “Vortex.”
Mezzo-soprano Moriah Daniel will sign “Lasciatemi Morire!” from “L’Arianna,” and Quincy Ball with follow with “Sonata 1 in F” on the tuba. Mezzo-soprano Brittany Griffin will sing “Voi Che Sapete” from “Le Nozze di Figaro” and a selection from “A Little Night Music.”
Nicholas Kirkland will end the recital with “Andante et Allegro” on the trombone. Huang and Gina Lawhon will provide piano accompaniment.
