TIFTON—Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College freshman Aniya Brown, a biology student from Fitzgerald, was the selected recipient for the Georgia Power Foundation Scholarship for the Spring 2023 semester.
The criteria states that the scholarship is designated for a full-time ABAC student from an underrepresented population with financial need.
Brown has a goal to become a kinesiologist and have a career as an athletic trainer for an NFL team.
“I heard about ABAC from a friend who attended and was told all about the smaller, hands-on classes and individual attention from the faculty,” said Brown. “This scholarship was truly needed as I am a student who is solely financially responsible for my college journey. I am from a single-parent household with a parent who is also enrolled in college. I am honored and thrilled to have received this scholarship and grateful that my hard work, both personally and academically, was noticed.”
“It was such a privilege to meet and spend time with Aniya Brown, a studious and deserving ABAC student who received a scholarship provided by the Georgia Power Foundation,” said Toni Reid, Georgia Power’s Tifton Area Manager. “Supporting our future leaders by way of scholarships, educational programming, and educator training are just a few of the ways we demonstrate action in our community. I look forward to continued partnership with ABAC and the Tifton community.”
The Georgia Power Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, is the third-largest corporate giving foundation in Georgia.
