Prepare for a rewarding career in healthcare and health-related fields with ABAC’s Bachelor of Science in Health Science. Designed with South Georgia and rural communities in mind, this flexible program offers multiple tracks so you can pursue professional school (physical therapy, physician assistant, occupational therapy, and others), healthcare administration, community and public health, or direct entry into a variety of health roles.

You will build a strong foundation in the sciences while gaining practical experience through hands-on coursework, internships, mentored research, and community engagement opportunities that are signature experiences at ABAC.

Concentrations

This concentration prepares students with the science foundation and pre-professional coursework needed to pursue graduate clinical programs such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, physician assistant studies, athletic training, or related allied-health fields. Career outcomes include entry into those professional programs, with bachelor’s-level options such as clinical research coordinator, rehabilitation aide, patient care technician, or medical sales, and licensed practice after the required graduate degree and credentialing.

This concentration prepares students to assess community health needs, promote prevention, and address health disparities, with particular relevance to rural and underserved populations. Career outcomes include community health worker, health educator, health promotion specialist, epidemiologist assistant, public health program coordinator, and roles in local health departments, nonprofits, or worksite wellness, as well as graduate study toward an MPH and roles such as epidemiologist or public health program manager.

This concentration prepares students to manage the business, operations, and policy side of healthcare organizations, including staffing, quality, finance, and regulatory compliance. Career outcomes include medical office manager, practice administrator, patient services coordinator, health information or revenue-cycle roles, and healthcare operations analyst, with advancement to hospital or clinic administration and related graduate study such as an MHA or MBA.
