Beyond the Classroom, Outreach and Career Connections

At nearly 1,000 acres, this property, located 10 miles north of campus off Willis Still Road, includes two fields, several pastures, two ponds, and trees covering 60-70% of the property.  Due to the diverse ecosystems available, the forest provides unique hands-on learning experiences for students primarily in the Natural Resource Management program.

This 24-acre property, managed by the ABAC Wildlife Society, includes a green tree reservoir and pond (1 acre), grass flats, .5 miles of walking trails, and diverse habitats such as a large mixed pine forest (5 acres), early successional scrub (3.5 acres), and pollinator areas (1.5 acres). Students gain hands-on experience through prescribed burns, invasive species control, and native plant conservation, making it an ideal learning site.

Lake Baldwin, managed by the ABAC Wildlife Society, offers excellent bass fishing exclusively for enrolled students with a state fishing license and a free ABAC license (available at the Yow Building). State and posted additional regulations must be followed (signs can be found at each end of the lake). Lake Baldwin also serves as an outdoor classroom for fisheries and wildlife courses (Natural Resource Management).
