Chancellor Sonny Perdue Celebrates ABAC’s Impact During Visit

TIFTON—Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) recently hosted University System of Georgia (USG) Chancellor Sonny Perdue for a special event titled “Celebrating ABAC’s Impact with Chancellor Sonny Perdue.” The gathering brought together members of the community, alumni, the Foundation and Alumni Boards, as well as faculty and staff, to recognize the institution’s ongoing contributions to education, agriculture, and economic development across South Georgia and beyond.
During his visit, Chancellor Perdue met with campus and community leaders to discuss the college’s mission, vision, and momentum. He expressed strong support for President Tracy Brundage’s leadership and commended ABAC’s role as a model institution within the University System of Georgia.
“Chancellor Perdue’s visit to ABAC was truly meaningful, and I am deeply grateful for the time he spent meeting with some of our strongest supporters—including our community and industry partners, the Foundation and Alumni Boards, and most importantly, those who make a real difference in the lives of students: our faculty and staff,” said Dr. Tracy Brundage. “His encouragement and support for ABAC’s mission reinforce our positive momentum as a college. I am thankful for his dedication and for taking the time to see firsthand the impact ABAC has across South Georgia and beyond.”
Chancellor Perdue praised ABAC as a cornerstone of agricultural and experiential education in Georgia’s top industry, agriculture, emphasizing its reputation for preparing graduates who are ready to meet workforce demands in a rapidly changing economy.
Perdue called ABAC one of Georgia’s iconic institutions, with a proud legacy of producing career-ready graduates. He went on to discuss the evolving nature of the agricultural industry and how ABAC has stayed ahead of that curve by listening to employers and responding to industry needs. community to be proud and be loud about the institution’s achievements. Perdue celebrated President Brundage’s leadership and her passion for student success.
The event provided an opportunity for ABAC supporters and alumni to reflect on the college’s impact throughout the state. Among those in attendance was Keri Jones, a Tifton CPA, Foundation Board member, business leader, and proud ABAC alumna, who shared her appreciation for the Chancellor’s visit.
“ABAC shaped not only my career but also my connection to this community,” said Jones. “I’m grateful to Chancellor Perdue for taking the time to visit and see firsthand the impact ABAC continues to make. His presence reminds us how important institutions like ABAC are to the success and vitality of our region.”
The celebration reinforced the strong partnership between ABAC, the University System of Georgia, and the broader community—underscoring the college’s role as a driving force in education, innovation, and opportunity.
