TIFTON—Fusing classical quartet aesthetic with contemporary American musical styles, the Turtle Island String Quartet brings its Grammy Award winning music to Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College on March 28 for what promises to be a bold and breathtaking performance.
As a part of the ABAC Presents! performing arts series, the Turtle Island String Quartet takes the stage at 7 p.m. in Howard Auditorium.
The Turtle Island String Quartet debuted in 1985 and since that time, the group has been a singular force in the creation of bold, new trends in chamber music for strings. Famed cellist Yo-Yo Ma claims the Turtle Island String Quartet to be “a unified voice that truly breaks new ground – authentic and passionate – a reflection of some of the most creative music-making today.”
Tickets are available for purchase at www.purplepass.com/turtle at a cost of $20 for adults and $10 for students. Tickets will also be sold at the door on the night of the performance. The final performance in the performing arts series will feature Byron Stripling with the ABAC Jazz Ensemble on April 18.
PB2 Foods is the ABAC Presents! series sponsor. Tift Regional Health System is a Premium Event sponsor of this performance. ABAC Presents! is supported in part by Georgia Council for the Arts through the appropriations of the Georgia General Assembly.
