Horticulture Club

The Horticulture Club at ABAC was established in 1979 as an organization for students with an interest in the green industry. A variety of educational and social activities are conducted that enrich the college experience beyond the classroom and broaden the students’ understanding of the green industry.

Mission Statement

  • Promote environmental interests and professionalism
  • Help identify and develop leadership qualities
  • Promote extra-curricular activities on campus
  • Encouraging experimental learning


  • Cookouts to promote membership drives and student rapport
  • Car washes as a fund raiser
  • Ornamental plant sales throughout the year for the department and club
  • Sponsor guests speakers on campus from green industry
  • Collaboration with the ABAC Student Chapter of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America in conducting golf tournaments for the Agriculture Division
  • Legacy Golf Tournament in raising funds for students in the agricultural division
  • Collaboration with other divisional clubs in conducting the Ag. Day for students in the agricultural division
  • Assisting with the Sunbelt Agricultural Exposition in Moultrie
  • Assisting with the Annual Georgia FFA District Horticultural Contests in Tifton and Waycross


  • Expressed interest in environmental horticulture as a career or just as an activity
  • Participate in club meetings and activities
  • Pay semester or quarterly dues to the club as established each Fall Semester
