TIFTON—Prospective students and their families can take a springtime stroll across the beautifully landscaped campus of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College at Stallion Day on April 6. During their visit, they can learn more about the college and what it has to offer. They can also take part in various events ranging from a rodeo to a circus-themed tailgate party.
During this recruitment day event, high school students from all over the state and surrounding states come together to tour the college and see how ABAC can be a door to their futures. There is no charge for visiting students.
The morning begins with registration at 8 a.m. in the Donaldson Dining Hall, followed by ABAC Ambassador led campus tours. During this one-day event, Gressette Gymnasium will showcase Club Connections from 9:30-10:45 a.m., allowing visitors to learn about the variety of clubs on campus.
Campus tours will continue throughout the morning, and information sessions focusing on financial aid and scholarships will be held for students and parents. Tours of the ABAC Lakeside freshman housing complex will be one of the highlights of the day. Prospective students will be allotted time to stop by the different academic schools of study and learn more about many different academic programs and highlights, based on their area of interest.
A free lunch for visiting students will be provided at the Homecoming Cookout in Gressette Gym. For other guests, meals are available at a cost of $12 per person. Visiting seniors will have the chance to take home prizes at the luncheon but students must be present to win. Prizes include one $500 tuition waiver, one housing application fee waiver valued at $235, and a one semester meal plan valued at $1,500.
As an extra added attraction, the annual Gee Haw Whoa Back Rodeo will be held on April 5-6 at 7 p.m. as a part of the Homecoming 2019 celebration. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for those 18 and under.
The Tailgate Under the Big Top will be held on April 6 at 1:30 p.m. at Stallion Field. Prospective students can join in the fun at a circus-themed tailgate with games, food, prizes, and entertainment as the Golden Stallions play baseball and the Golden Fillies play softball.
