ABAC, Wiregrass Georgia Technical College establish transfer pathway for future elementary educators
Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and Wiregrass Georgia Technical College have signed an articulation agreement that creates a seamless transfer pathway for students pursuing careers in elementary education.
The agreement allows students who earn an associate’s degree in education from Wiregrass Georgia Technical College to transfer into ABAC's Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education program, providing a clear pathway to earning a bachelor’s degree. ABAC and Wiregrass officials met to commemorate the articulation agreement July 8.
“It’s about the students,” DeAnnia Clements, president of Wiregrass Georgia Technical College, said. “It’s about putting them first and making sure they have the opportunity to pursue their goals, dreams and futures.”
The partnership is designed to help students continue their education while maximizing the transfer of eligible coursework between the two institutions. Students who meet ABAC's admission requirements and are separately accepted into the elementary education program will be able to transition directly into the bachelor's degree program. The agreement aims to empower more students to become teachers and positively impact the communities they serve.
“The impact of one outstanding teacher extends far beyond a single classroom,” Dr. Tracy Brundage, ABAC president, said. “Like a pebble dropped into a pond, the ripple reaches students, families, and entire communities, creating opportunities that can change lives for generations.”
The articulation agreement includes a program-to-program transfer map outlining how coursework completed in the Wiregrass Georgia Technical College education program applies to ABAC's Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Students pursuing the teacher preparation track must also meet additional admission requirements established by ABAC.
The agreement took effect April 1, 2026, and will remain in place for five years, with the option for renewal by mutual agreement. The agreement is available on the ABAC website.
