Dr. Michael Kirkland grew up in Decatur County and attended Bainbridge College after graduating from high school. He completed degrees at the University of Georgia (BA, History, 1996), Valdosta State University (MA, History, 1998), and Florida State University (PhD, Humanities, 2009). Dr. Kirkland has served in a variety of positions at the former Bainbridge State College since 2003, including Interim Vice President for Student Affairs, Dean of Arts and Sciences, Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs. Following the merger with ABAC, he served as the Executive Director for ABAC's off campus instructional sites located in Bainbridge, Moultrie, Blakely, and Donalsonville. He now serves as ABAC's Vice President for Enrollment Management.
