ABAC is a good fit for Charlotte Klesman who began her teaching career at two year colleges in rural communities. Now she appreciates the growing ABAC campus and the students who come there. She also enjoys living in Tifton, which is big enough to have amenities such as good restaurants and entertainment but still small enough she can ride her bicycle to work. She also enjoys gardening year round.
Charlotte Klesman teaches public speaking, human communication, professional communication, interpersonal communication, media writing, issues in mass media, and proposal and grant writing courses at ABAC. She enjoys teaching blended classes (part in the classroom, part online) because her research has shown they offer the best outcome for students. Recently, the proposal and grant writing class has moved to online.
Klesman began by teaching evening enrichment classes - classes designed for adults who wanted to continue their education but not work toward a degree. Her first classes as an adjunct were online communication and business classes for a small business school.
She continues to broaden her teaching skills to include philosophy and business as well as her communication classes in order to help prepare her students broaden their educational experience.

Charlotte Klesman's research often uses mixed methods, with a survey administered to a target population and results evaluated then applied to develop interview questions for key participants. This method was used to evaluate cultural identity regarding allocation and use of scarce natural resources (water use of Rainy River and International Falls on the US / Canadian border) for her dissertation. Literature review on guns and southern (SE US) identity, including links to slavery, Jim Crow, and current issues on race and economic inequality, and surveys of South Georgia populations on the southern version of the American Dream.
Charlotte Klesman is faculty advisor for Omega Delta Chapter, Phi Theta Kappa, the world's largest and most prestigious honor society for two-year college students that now includes colleges offering four-year degrees. Membership is by invitation, based on a student's GPA. PTK provides students with access to grants and scholarships in addition to offering opportunities to build portfolios through chapter- supported community service and academic accomplishments. ABAC's Omega Delta Chapter was formed in 1973 and is still an active force on campus.
The Omega Delta Chapter has members who have served as state officers and we are supporting our graduates through membership in the Georgia Phi Theta Kappa Alumni Association.
