Audrey Luke-Morgan
Audrey Luke-Morgan (Dr. ALM) joined the School of Agriculture and Natural Resources in August 2012 with a focus on Agribusiness and Applied Economics. On July 1, 2023, she transitioned into the role of Head of Department of Agriculture.
Prior to joining ABAC faculty, she served as a Public Service Associate with the University of Georgia’s Center for Agribusiness and Economic Development as an agribusiness economist. Her focus included applied research and outreach services for Georgia agribusinesses of interest to industry or commodity groups and rural economic development groups including research projects, feasibility for new agribusiness ventures, market surveys, development of detailed business and marketing plans and economic impact studies. Dr. Luke-Morgan was responsible for conducting pro active research studies of new and emerging agribusiness opportunities and developing outreach programs to facilitate agricultural and natural resource economic development in the state.
As a graduate student at the University of Georgia, the primary focus of Dr. Luke-Morgan’s graduate research was New Generation Cooperatives and the feasibility of their development in Georgia. In particular, she considered the economic analysis of a large scale, producer cooperative owned pork slaughter plant in Georgia. She also successfully completed the Certified Public Accountant exam while attending graduate school.
Upon completion of her graduate studies in 1998, Dr. Luke-Morgan began work as a Research Coordinator with the University of Georgia National Center for Peanut Competitiveness. Her work experience with the Peanut Center was one with focus on multi-disciplinary and multi-state efforts. Her responsibilities included coordination with production scientists to plan and conduct research relative to peanuts. She has worked with production scientists including agronomists, entomologists, plant pathologists and other economists throughout Georgia, Florida, Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Texas and New Mexico in an effort to enhance the competitiveness of US peanut producers.

Given her new duties and responsibilities as Department Head, as of Fall 2023, Dr. Luke-Morgan will only be teaching AECO 2200.
In the summer of 2018, Dr. Luke-Morgan completed requirements in the Doctor of Public Administration program at Valdosta State University. Throughout the program, she considered public administration from an agricultural viewpoint. Her dissertation considered the effectiveness of crop insurance as a safety net for representative peanut farms in the U.S. Dr. Luke-Morgan continues to research agricultural economic and policy issues through various research projects and grants.
Dr. Luke-Morgan has served as advisor to both the the Agribusiness Club and ABAC Collegiate Young Farmers and Ranchers.
From September 2020 through July 2023, these two student organizations operated under a partnership agreement as the ABAC Agripreneurs.
Effective August 1, 2023, the two student organizations will again operate independently. ABAC Collegiate Young Farmers and Ranchers are affiliated with GA Farm Bureau.
The former Agribusiness Club will retain the name “Agripreneurs” and maintain national affiliation with the National Agri-Marketing Association (NAMA).
Dr. Luke-Morgan has also coached the ABAC NAMA Student Marketing Team. Between 2012 and 2019, three of those teams advanced to the semi-finals, solidifying a spot as one of the top 12 agricultural marketing teams in the nation.
