Adele Cunningham, PhD
Dr. Cunningham returned to college in her fifties to earn her PhD in biology. Her dissertation was on sea urchins, but she loves vertebrate biology, too. She appreciates the difficulties that nontraditional students face and enjoys working with these dedicated students. Some of her students have LPN degrees and Dr. Cunningham appreciates the insights into the world of nursing that these students can provide.
Dr. Cunningham enjoys teaching Anatomy and Physiology I and II, courses that are required for students planning to attend nursing school and pharmacy school. Her goal is to make these courses as relevant as possible to success in nursing and pharmacy school. Dr. Cunningham also enjoys teaching BIOL 1107 and the opportunities it offers to explore some of the great ideas in biology.
Dr. Cunningham hopes to begin a study of the gopher tortoise population on the Bainbridge campus. Jones Research has graciously offered to help with a fiber optic camera so students can look into the world of the gopher tortoise in its burrow.
