Chuck Scarborough, Class of 1978

Passionate leadership is about energy, commitment, and the optimism that each of us can make a difference.  What is it that makes some leaders so passionate about their leadership role that they inspire their peers?
Mr. Chuck Scarborough, the current President of the Alumni Association Board of Directors for 2016-2017 at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, (ABAC) is simply passionate about ABAC.  He came to ABAC in 1976 on a partial scholarship to play America’s number one pastime, baseball.  After graduating with an associate’s degree in science, he transferred to the University of Georgia where
he received his B.A. and M.A. in Geology.
Mr. Scarborough grew to love ABAC and developed a passion for the wonderful agricultural college in South Georgia.  He has since returned to bring several incoming freshmen to tour the college and meet with admissions representatives so that they too can have the same life developing experience that he had.
His love for the college is also demonstrated in his position as President of the Alumni Association Board of Directors.  His goals for his term as president are to express the need for membership growth in the Alumni Association and to have the board recognized for doing so along with having a little fun along the way.  His passion for the college and Alumni Association go along with being able to be so active in the association and being able to see first-hand that your time, funds, and dedication is actually making an impact on the students’ education.

Mr. Scarborough simply says that “ABAC prepares you for life.”  During his time as a student and athlete at ABAC he mentioned “the importance of following a schedule, budgeting your money, learning self-discipline, prioritizing important factors in your life, and learning exceptional social skills.  All of these factors will allow you to be successful in your daily endeavors.  These are all skills that no one can take away from you and will help you in your future career paths, wherever they happen to lead.”

Mr. Chuck Scarborough is currently working for Georgia Transmission Corporation as the Manager of Land Services He works with company land owners to build company lines and deals with acquisition and permitting.  ABAC played a great role in teaching him how to be successful and he finds it a great pleasure to return to the college and continuing to make an impact on other students.
