This degree equals the first two years of college at any Four-Year institution and includes 42 hours of Core curriculum (Areas A-E) and 18 hours of the Criminal Justice major. Students completing this degree may transfer to another institution to complete the Upper-Division courses for the Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice degree.

To suit the needs of the students there are two paths to follow – Option A or Option B depending on the number of Science or other Lab/Science courses taken.

Rural Studies (BS) Degree


» Social and Community Development Option

The Social and Community Development track for a Bachelors Degree in Rural Studies is an option for those interested in a criminal justice career in rural areas of this or other states – and plan on seeking promotion to command rank. The RS curriculum options cover many important leadership, research, social, and administrative topics useful to future Police Lieutenants, Captains, and Chiefs. The 4-year degree is also a basic entry-level requirement for Federal law enforcement positions.
