ACCUPLACER is an English and Mathematics placement exam, which new students can take to exempt corequisite learning support requirements. There is no cost to take the Accuplacer the first time for those who have applied to ABAC.  A $35 testing fee is required for each additional attempt.

The Institutional or “residual” ACT is administered to students who have applied for admission into ABAC and were unable to test on a national test date. Skills are assessed in the areas of English, Math, Reading, and Science. Scores from Residual Testing are reported only to ABAC for admission, course placement, and advising purposes. Testing Accommodations Students with documented disabilities who require special testing conditions must contact the Testing Center at 229.391.4817 or testing@abac.edu to schedule their exam and provide required documentation.

Test Scores for the Residual ACT scores can ONLY be used for ABAC. Students may not order additional score reports for any other college or use their scores for any other college. 

If you have taken the ACT through Residual Testing—on this campus or at another site—you must wait a minimum of 60 days before retesting. Testers who retake the ACT Residual before the 60 day wait period will have their scores canceled.

The ETS® Major Field Test (MFT) for Biology is a requirement for biology majors taking BIOL 4900. The MFT consists of 150 multiple-choice questions, several of which are grouped in sets and based on descriptions of laboratory and field situations, diagrams, or experimental results. Some of the problems within each of the major areas are designed to test analytical skills. The MFT for Biology is only offered on the Tifton Campus each Fall and Spring. Students will receive additional information about signing up for the exam in BIOL 4900. There is no cost to take the exam, which can be taken at the Testing Center or virtually. Registering to take a CLEP exam is a two-step process:

1. Register for each exam that you wish to take by going to the College Board
2. Select the campus or site location below to sign up for a time to take your exam.

Average total cost for one CLEP exam is $120 ($90 for the CLEP exam plus a $30 proctoring fee paid separately) ABAC serves as a national test center for the College-Level Examination Program (CLEP).

• All CLEP exams (with the exception of essays portions) are administered on the computer.
• Since policies regarding CLEP credits differ at various institutions, candidates should verify which tests are accepted by their institution.
• Scores are reported to each institution designated as the recipient in approximately 2-3 weeks.
• Score reporting for CLEP exams that include an essay can take 3-5 weeks.

All eligible military personnel and eligible civilian employees: DSST, CLEP exams, and testing fees are funded by the Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES). Military members who are fully funded must contact the ABAC-Tifton campus to arrange their DSST or CLEP exam. If you are an ABAC student, see the current catalog for Approved CLEP Exams to determine which exams are approved for related courses and the CLEP exams offered through ABAC. Other Requirements Upon arrival to the Testing Center, a valid photo ID with signature must be presented. Acceptable forms of primary ID include:

• Current driver’s license
• State or federal ID card
• Current passport
• Military ID with photo and signature
• Tribal ID
• Naturalization card or certificate of citizenship

Military personnel and government-funded civilians must present a current military identification card and one of the below second forms of government-issued photo ID with a signature:

• Employee photo ID
• College ID
• Credit/Debit Card
• Social Security Card
• Military ID with signature only
• Unused ID form the primary choices above

DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST) tests are two-hour computer-based tests available in the areas of business, physical sciences, humanities, social sciences and applied technology, and are for students interested in earning college credit for material they already know.

THESE TESTS ARE ONLY AVAILABLE ON THE TIFTON CAMPUS Paying for the Test: Two separate payments will be required for non-military or services members who are not fully funded:

• There will be a required $30 proctoring fee to schedule your DSST Exam.
• $85.00 test fee*, due at log-in, payable to DSST by credit/debit card only. Fees subject to change

The Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators (GACE) assess the knowledge and skills of prospective and current Georgia P-12 educators. The GACE is aligned with state and national standards for educator preparation and with Georgia state standards for the P–12 student curriculum (Georgia Performance Standards).

The Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) General Test is the most widely accepted graduate admissions test worldwide. One test for both graduate and business school that is designed to measure overall academic readiness for graduate school.

Per Georgia law, all students must demonstrate knowledge of United States history, Georgia history, the United States Constitution, and the Georgia Constitution. To demonstrate this knowledge, students must pass History 2111 or History 2112 and Political Science 1101 at ABAC or have previously completed these courses at a University System of Georgia institution.

Students who transfer American History and/or American Government courses from institutions outside the state of Georgia must also fulfill the legislative requirements in Georgia history and/or constitution by examination.

Students who need to satisfy the Georgia History or Constitution requirement will be contacted and enrolled in a Competency Exam course through GeorgiaView. There is no fee for taking either exam. Students and advisors can also see this requirement in DegreeWorks.

The School of Nursing and Health Sciences utilizes the HESI Admission Assessment (A2) as a tool to assess the readiness of prospective nursing students for both the Generic and Bridge program tracks.

The HESI A2 must be taken at ABAC ideally the semester before your planned entry date into the nursing program as exam scores are valid for one year. Plan accordingly as seating is limited and dates fill quickly.

The Testing Center coordinates with Accommodation and Disability Services (ADS) to provide needed testing accommodations. Test accommodations are provided to eligible students on a case-by-case basis determined by documented need and may include, but is not limited to:

• Reduced Distraction Environment for exams
• Large print or CCTV
• Extended testing time
• Test Reader
• Test Scribe
• Use of computer for essay exams
• Approved “breaks” during test administration

Procedure

• Accommodations must be requested one week in advance. This will allow appropriate time to receive, review, and approve required documentation, secure accommodations, and allow the test taker time to ask questions.
