eMajor: Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice

The Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice is delivered entirely online through a partnership with eMajor, part of the University System of Georgia. The purpose of the online criminal justice degree is to prepare students for employment within the criminal justice system in the areas of municipal, state, and federal law enforcement; corrections; juvenile justice and probation, etc. by providing students with a foundation of the knowledge, principles, theories, and functions common to the American Criminal Justice system.

Upon completion of the online criminal justice degree, students will demonstrate mastery of the essential content of the criminology core curriculum, demonstrate the ability to analyze significant concepts and theoretical perspectives in criminal justice critically, demonstrate an understanding of essential elements of academic and professional writing, demonstrate an understanding of academic and professional research and scholarship and demonstrate an understanding of professional and ethical values in the criminal justice field.

Additionally, Criminal Justice eMajor partner institutions, such as ABAC, have pre-evaluated Georgia’s POST training curriculum for applicable credit for prior learning in the BS in Criminal Justice program.

Program information for the BS in Criminal JusStudents pursuing a degree in criminal justice may choose an optional concentration in Law Enforcement or Social Justice.

The Law Enforcement Concentration

The concentration in law enforcement is tailored to those students who already know they want a career in law enforcement. This degree program provides students with the knowledge of fair and ethical police practices, investigative skills in a variety of specialties, crime control, and prevention techniques, and leadership skills. Students already employed in law enforcement will find this degree program will supplement and enhance their current knowledge, skills, and abilities. The BS in Criminal Justice will also assist current officers in obtaining promotions and leadership opportunities that can influence current and future generations of law enforcement officers.

The Social Justice Concentration

Courses in the social justice degree concentration in the criminal justice degree program will provide appropriate frameworks and tools to assist students in analyzing complex issues and promoting social change. A concentration in social justice will prepare students to be the leaders of a paradigm shift and promote social equity change in law enforcement, the judicial system, the healthcare industry, and economics.

All students are required to complete the eMajor introduction quiz before registering for an eMajor course. You must know your ABAC student ID number as well as your ABAC email address to complete the quiz.

eMajor Withdrawals

Students should follow ABAC’s withdrawal procedures to withdraw from eMajor classes.
