TIFTON – Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College’s Fall Jazz Concert is scheduled for Oct. 19.
The annual concert will feature special guests Kenneth Trimmins on trumpet and Woody Leonard on drum set, according to Dr. Andrew Peal, assistant professor of Jazz and Music Theory for the ABAC School of Arts and Sciences.
The ABAC Jazz Combo performance will feature standard jazz repertoire performed and recorded by the legendary hard-bop musicians Hank Mobley and Kenny Dorham.
The ABAC Jazz Ensemble and special guests will perform big band repertoire from great
composers and arrangers such as Bill Holman, Thad Jones, and Nelson Riddle.
The ABAC Jazz Combo explores a broad range of music in the jazz idiom from bebop, post-bop, afro-Cuban, swing era, and contemporary composers. The combo has been invited to numerous events on campus and across the community as a representation of the Music Program at ABAC. This ensemble serves a key role as ambassador to South Georgia. Their mission is to keep the integrity of this cultural tradition within the American art form called
jazz.

The group has embarked on three European tours, performing at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, the North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam, and the opening of the Tour de France in London. In the US, the group has performed for the opening of the Olympic Games, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, the Cocoa Beach Jazz Festival, and two World’s Fairs.
