Vista: Export/Import Grades to/from Excel

Export

  1. Go to the section in Vista

  2. Teach [tab]

  3. Grade Book [icon]

  4. Export to Spreadsheet [button] -- at bottom of screen

  5. See selections in graphic image below -- select All Columns

  6. Export [button] -- at bottom of screen

  7. Save [button]

  8. Name and save the CSV file where you can locate it later.

  9. Add/Calculate any grades as needed.

Import
Note: You must include the UserID in the file to import. Delete any blank columns within your data. Save the spreadsheet tab as a Comma Delimited (Comma Separated Values) (*.csv) format.

  1. Go to the section in Vista

  2. Teach [tab]

  3. Grade Book [icon]

  4. Import from Spreadsheet [button] -- at bottom of screen

  5. Browse [button]

  6. Select the file from Exporting instructions above.

  7. Open [button]

  8. Upload [button]

  9. Check to ensure columns match and that new columns are marked as such. See example image below.

  10. New columns are added to Vista as TEXT -- which can not be used for calculations in Vista. To avoid this, add all new columns with appropriate type (Numeric) in Vista before importing file. OR you can import the file, then convert the column types.

  11. New columns are added to Vista without releasing to the student. To avoid this, add all new columns and release to student in Vista before importing file. OR you can import the file, then release the columns to the students.

  12. New columns are added to Vista as non-grade columns. To avoid this, add all new columns as grade columns in Vista before importing file. OR you can import the file, then convert to grade columns.

  13. Import [button] -- at bottom of screen

  14. Reports all fields not imported.

  15. OK [button]

  16. Back to Grade Book [button] -- at bottom of screen
