TOP FACULTY, STAFF, ADMINISTRATOR, ADVISOR HONORED AT ABAC
TIFTON-- The top faculty member, staff member, administrator, and academic advisor for the 200-01 academic year were recognized during Tuesday's Honors Day ceremony in Gressette Gym at Abraham Baldwin College.
Nancy Scott, an assistant professor of accounting in the Division of Business Administration, received the W. Bruce Donaldson Award for Teaching Excellence. Teresa Williams, senior secretary in ABAC's Division of Business Administration, received the Roy R. Jackson, Sr. Award for staff excellence. Wasdon Graydon, Director of MAP/PREP/TRIO and Coordinator of Federal and Sponsored Programs, received the E. Lanier Carson Leadership Award for College Administrators. Each of these recipients received a plaque and a check for $1250 form the ABAC Foundation.
Lorie Felton, assistant professor in the Division of Agriculture and Forest Resources, received the Excellence in Advising Award. She will attend the annual meeting of the national Academic Advising in Ottawa, Ontario, in October.
Scott attended ABAC and received her bachelor's degree from Georgia State University and her master's degree in business administration from Valdosta State University.
Dr. Betty Horne, ABAC's Vice President and Dean of Academic Affairs, said Scott has outstanding ability and works exceptionally well with both students and faculty members. "She strives to stay current in her discipline and constantly tries new approaches to teaching," Horne said. According to a current professor and former student, "Scott attests to the fact that the students are always her primary concern, and teaching is her most important duty."
Williams began her employment at ABAC in the Registrars office on June 25, 1984. She made the transition to the senior secretary po0sition in that office in July, 1985 and advanced to a staff assistant position in July, 1986. Williams received her Certified Professional Secretary Certification in 1987. In September, 1989, she transferred to Division Secretary. She was presented the outstanding staff member award in 1994. She completed her associate degree in the spring of 1996.
