McAfee Updates

Note: If you encounter a dialog box for “Security Warning,” asking “Do you want to install and run…, Check the box for “Always trust content from….” Yes [button]

Update McAfee

1)      Right click the red/blue anti-virus shield in the system tray

2)      Update Now [option]

3)      Upon checking for updates, the Last Updated date will be shown.

Scan for Viruses

1)      Right click the red/blue anti-virus shield in the system tray

2)      Scan Now [option]

3)      My Computer [option]

4)      Note: This scan will take “forever” – start the scan during lunch, during class time, or before leaving work.

Check McAfee’s version, last date checked, and last update

1)       Right click the red/blue anti-virus shield in the system tray

2)      Scan now [option]

3)      About VirusScan ASAP [option]

Note: If the Last Updated date is not today’s date, do not panic. McAfee only updates when an update is available. However, McAfee should “check” automatically for an update every day.
