Horticulture Club

The Horticulture Club at ABAC was established in 1979 as an organization for students with an interest in the green industry. A variety of educational and social activities are conducted that enrich the college experience beyond the classroom and broaden the students’ understanding of the green industry.

Mission Statement

Promote environmental interests and professionalism
Help identify and develop leadership qualities
Promote extra-curricular activities on campus
Encouraging experimental learning

Activities

Cookouts to promote membership drives and student rapport
Car washes as a fund raiser
Ornamental plant sales throughout the year for the department and club
Sponsor guests speakers on campus from green industry
Collaboration with the ABAC Student Chapter of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America in conducting golf tournaments for the Agriculture Division
Legacy Golf Tournament in raising funds for students in the agricultural division
Collaboration with other divisional clubs in conducting the Ag. Day for students in the agricultural division
Assisting with the Sunbelt Agricultural Exposition in Moultrie
Assisting with the Annual Georgia FFA District Horticultural Contests in Tifton and Waycross

Membership

Expressed interest in environmental horticulture as a career or just as an activity
Participate in club meetings and activities
Pay semester or quarterly dues to the club as established each Fall Semester
