Skylar Dorough

#13  Sophomore   Pitcher Bats: R/Throws: R      Fitzgerald, GA

Coach Martinez on Skylar: “Skylar will be a huge factor in our pitching staff this season. We have worked hard this fall to improve her pitches and gain more command on the mound. What’s more, Skylar has a very good bat at the plate. Skylar will bring a different approach to the mound which compliments the other pitchers very well. I am excited to see Skylar mature and grow this season.”

High School: Skylar attended Fitzgerald High School where she played varsity softball four years along with running cross country, throwing the discus on the track team, and she was also a cheerleader for the varsity football team. Skylar was selected as a 1st Team All-Region pitcher her freshman, sophomore and junior year. As a senior, Skylar was selected as the Pitcher of the Year for Region 1-AA. Her senior year she had 119 strikeouts with a .082 ERA. As a senior she also had a 571 batting avg. with a .957 slugging %, hitting 5 home runs.

Personal: Skylar Layne Dorough was born December 13, 1996 to Shannon and Lisa Dorough. She has one sister Shyann Dorough. She is majoring in Pharmacy. Besides playing softball Skylar loves traveling and spending time with her family.

Why ABAC? “After visiting and working out with several teams, I felt that that the ABAC team seemed more dedicated and committed to becoming a championship softball team. Coach Campbell seemed fun but had a driving force while recruiting me. Although I was upset to hear of Coach Campbell retiring, I was excited to hear of Coach Martinez becoming the head coach. Having the opportunity to learn from a coach with her experience is a dream come true and to do it on a campus close to home, in a city that is just the right size is awesome.”
