Lesson Plan Assignment

We have been spending a great amount of time discussing lesson planning and assessment. Remember, the assessment needs to meet the material being taught.

Here is what you will do.

Create a lesson plan. You must follow the template seen below.

The lesson plan template includes:

Class: Grade level subject

Duration: minutes?

Georgia Performance Standards: see www.georgiastandards.org

Objectives: Use Bloom’s taxonomy. Label the level of Bloom's taxonomy.

Materials: What materials will be needed to conduct the lesson? Ex: textbook, pen, paper, crayons, glue, internet, etc.

Accommodation: Pick one area of special education, such as dyslexia, giftedness, ADHD, etc. Explain in a sentence or two how you will modify the lesson for this student.

Procedures: This is the actual lesson. You must label the opener of the lesson. You must also label the lesson’s closure.

Your lesson must be one of the following: direct instruction, lecture discussion, guided discovery, or cooperative learning.

You must label each phase of the lesson.

Each step should be typed in bulleted form. Each bullet should have a label.

If you choose cooperative learning, be sure that you overemphasize the opener and closing with your students. Do not just put them into groups and tell them to get to work. Explain what you will be doing as students work. Such as, how will you ensure that students are on task?

If you choose guided discovery, you must have an intro, open-ended phase, covergent phase, and closure.

If you you choose direct instruction, you should have an intro, developing understanding phase, guided practice phase, independent practice/homework phase, and closure.

If you choose lecture-discussion, label the lecture and label the discussion. You should have at least three discussion opportunities. You should have an intro and closure.

You must address two of the learning styles in your lesson. Label them. (Ex: VARK).

Assessment: Explain how you will assess learning. Include the assessment strategy (i.e. copy of rubric, checklist, worksheet, etc).

Come up with an ORIGINAL LESSON. I will check to make sure that you did not copy a lesson from somewhere else.

This lesson plan is due on February 25 at 11:30 A.M.
