EDUC 2130 Lesson Plan Presentation

This assignment covers everything that was taught in this class. It is a fun activity designed to give you experience in teaching.

Here are the requirements:

Every group member must teach the lesson.

You will teach the lesson as if you were teaching children. So, bring handouts, PowerPoints, videos, games, props, or any other kinds of tools that you would use. You must teach as though this is a real class. Bring materials. Bring enough for the entire class. Your classmates will be your students. They will pretend that they are in the grade/class that you are teaching.

You must include a review, opening, the lesson, and closure in your lesson. Complete each step. The lesson must fulfill every step of the lesson (i.e. convergent phase in guided discovery)

Your lesson must be one of the four types of teaching styles that we learned in class. These include: lecture discussion, cooperative groups, direct instruction, and guided discovery.

You must exhibit professionalism through being prepared and organized. You should also speak clearly, with correct grammar. You will also be required to dress like a teacher.

You will be graded based upon your presentation skills. Be enthusiastic. Speak with proper grammar.

Every member must participate and teach a portion of the lesson.

You will be graded on participation, too. This means that you MUST participate in and outside of class. You will assess how well you participated, as well as how well your partner participated. You will turn in a contract.

You will lose 10 points for every day that you do not attend/participate. Five points will be deducted for each tardy. Please remember that you, as well as your classmates, have put a lot of work into this presentation. Coming in late or not participating makes presenters nervous. You expect the same courtesy that you give.

If you are an early childhood education major, you may NOT do a science lesson.

Your lesson must be 15 minutes long. Please stay within this limit. I will cut you off after 15 minutes.

You do not have to turn in a written lesson plan.

Groups must be comprised of two people of your choosing. Choose wisely.

MW 2:00 Presentations: November 29 and December 1

TR 9:30 Presentations: November  23 and 30 and December 2

TR 12:30 Presentations: November  30 and December 2

Not attending class on your assigned presentation date will result in a 20 point penalty.

Be positive and enthusiastic. Have fun with this. This is the last time you will get to teach a lesson before being placed in front of actual children.
