Staff Forum Called Meeting

July 19, 2006 * 3:00 PM

 

Ms. Olga Contreras-Martinez, Chair, called the meeting to order at 3:00. Ms. Bam Pirkle gave the invocation.

 

Attendees were asked to introduce themselves and share what office they work in for the benefit of other staff members, and to give guest speaker Dr. David Bridges some faces to put with names.

 

Ms. Contreras-Martinez then introduced the guest speaker: Dr. David Bridges, 10th President of ABAC.

 

Dr. Bridges talked about values that all of us should share like honesty, hard work, diversity, loyalty and that greatness is expected from all. He told us that we should share a sense of pride to work at ABAC and that everyone here plays a different and important role to the institution. He wants us to keep all cracks to the minimum and to sway from being a wedge that makes an even bigger crack. He understands and values that staff should be involved in the decision making, be appreciated and be informed of what is going on in the college. For that reason, he is sending out weekly updates. He empowered us to support each other and participate, especially in Staff Forum. He reminded us of what our day job is but most importantly to keep in mind what is best for ABAC. Finally, he told us that we all have a great choice to make toward everything we do in life and that is our attitude.

 

Brenda Doss, By-Laws Committee Chair, gave an update on the progress of the committee – progress is being made, and proposed changes should be available for review before the fall semester meeting in September. Members who have suggestions or specific issues they would like to see address in this round of updates should contact a member of the committee. Committee members are:
