MINUTES SPRING STAFF FORUM

January 4, 2004

Philip Hightower, Chair, called the meeting to order and Olga Contreras-Perez gave the invocation.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

The minutes were approved.  A motion to accept was made, seconded and passed.

 

INTRODUCTION OF NEW PERSONNEL

Mr. Hightower read the names of new staff members who have joined ABAC since fall.  Any in attendance were asked to stand.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

·        Tom Turkey Fundraiser – Thanks to all who made our fundraiser successful.  We raised $1035.00, with a $100.00 donation, making the total $1135.00.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

·        Our account balance from Ms. Bobbie Baldree is $15,001.14.

·        Roy Jackson Award and Staff Forum Scholarship

1.     Nominations forms for the Roy Jackson Award are due March 1, 2004.  Please send these to Philip Hightower.  A list of eligible recipients is posted on the web.

2.     Staff Forum Scholarship applications are due March 1, 2004.  Please send these to Ms. Hazel Purvis in Academic Affairs.

·        Staff Matters Newsletter – Ellen Resta will get it out later this week.

·        Payroll Deduction Form and Fundraising - Payroll deduction forms are available for anyone interested in donating.  Fundraising ideas were discussed.  Several ideas were mentioned.  Valentine’s Day was too near, so we discussed doing something for Easter, possibly selling Easter eggs and Easter Baskets for a set price for people to place orders.

·        Hazel Purvis announced upon her retirement that Brenda Doss will start her new job in Academic Affairs March 1, 2004.

 

REFRESHMENTS

·        Mr. Hightower gave a special thanks to those volunteering to provide refreshments:  Phyllis Kester, Kim Ascani, Javier Gonzalez, Trina Jones, Brenda Graham, Teresa Williams, Amy Willis, Patsy Hembree, Reba Selph, Debbie Cromer and Philip Hightower.

·        Volunteers for Summer Semester – A sheet will be placed on the refreshment table for volunteers to bring refreshments to our next meeting on Wednesday, June 30, 2004.

The meeting was adjourned and members enjoyed delicious refreshments served by volunteers of the Staff Forum.
