Philip Hightower, chair, called the meeting to order and gave the invocation. 

 

Guest Speaker:

Mr. Larry Williams from Sodexho was present to talk about the company and what we should expect. They are working on setting up an electronic system which will allow us to check on the status of a work order and various other things.  Sodexho wants to be a part of ABAC.

 

Announcements:

1.      Mr. Hightower thanked the for Fall 2004 refreshment volunteers:  Kim Ascani, Cristella Contreras, Debra McCrary, Janet Weaver, Teresa Williams, Amy Willis, Pathelyn Smith, Francisco Zebeda

2.      The sign-up sheet will be outside on the refreshment table for Spring 2005 volunteers.

3.      USG Staff Council will meet on 10/7-8 in Columbus, Ga.  If anyone is interested in attending, please see Mr. Hightower for more information.

 

Approval of Summer 2004 Minutes

    • No changes
    • Motioned, seconded, and passed

 

Introduction of New Personnel:

Mr. Hightower read the names of new personnel and asked if they were present to please stand for recognition.

 

New business:

  • Account balance of $11,851.70 as of 9/14/04.  Mr. Hightower is going to check with Ms. Baldree as to how much it requires for an endowment.  The Roy Jackson Staff Award ($1250) and the yearly scholarship ($1250) would come from the endowment.
  • Nomination Committee-Mr. Hightower asked the following individuals to serve on a committee to find new officers for the Staff Forum.  The names will be presented and voted on at our Spring meeting.  Those serving on the committee are:  Pathelyn Smith, Teresa Williams, Trina Jones, Phyllis Kester & Cristella Contreras.   Mr. Hightower made the motion, Amy Willis seconded and it passed.
  • Staff Matters Newsletter – It has not been published as of today.  If you have any news or ideas for this, please submit them to Mrs. Resta.
  • Fundraising:
    1. Payroll deduction form:  There was some discussion as to this having to be done yearly.  Mr. Hightower will check with Mrs. Grimsley in payroll and let us know.
    2. Tom Turkey Fundraiser:  Because of its success, we would like to do another this year to be held on November 17-19, consisting of cooked items, desserts and services.
    3. Spring Fundraiser:  Staff Forum will make up gift baskets to be sold for Valentine’s Day.  We will post pictures on the web of the different baskets, ranging in price from $5-$20, and take orders.

 

The meeting adjourned and those in attendance enjoyed the refreshments.
