MINUTES FALL STAFF FORUM

September 10, 2003

Philip Hightower, Chair, called the meeting to order and Hazel Purvis gave the invocation.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

·        Mr. Hightower announced our special guest, Ms. Bertha Daniels, who is now over the Staff Forum under the new structure of committees.

·        Kim Ascani announced a change in AAC hours.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

The minutes were approved.  A motion to accept was made, seconded and passed.

 

INTRODUCTION OF NEW PERSONNEL

Mr. Hightower read the names of new staff members who have joined ABAC since summer.  Any in attendance were asked to stand.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

·        Newsletter Contest -Twenty-ones names were submitted by 15 staff members.  Mr. Hightower thanked everyone for participating.  Officers rated the entries earlier in the week and the top three were voted on.  Ms. Phyllis Kester had the winning entry:  STAFF MATTERS.  Ms. Kester received a gift, as did Ms. Hazel Purvis & Mr. Jimmy Grubbs for their entry, all compliments of the ABAC Bookstore.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

·        The bank balance from Ms. Bobbie Baldree is $13,115.50.

·        Payroll Deduction Forms are available for anyone interested in donating.  Mr. Hightower encouraged everyone to participate in this worthy cause.

·        Fundraising Ideas – Many ideas were suggested, but Staff liked the idea of a silent auction/bake sale around Thanksgiving.  More information will be forthcoming.

·        Mr. Hightower gave a special thanks to those volunteering to provide refreshments:  Dina Willis, Brenda Doss, Cristella Contreras, Bam Pirkle, Donnie Thompson, Mandy Vassey, Stephanie Coney, Philip Hightower & Nancy Brannen.

 

STAFF DEVELOPMENT & ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES

Ms. Olga Contreras led the group in three activities in which all staff participated with enjoyment.  They were:

Human Barometer, Taking Care of Me, and Strength Tree

 

The meeting was adjourned and members enjoyed delicious

refreshments served by volunteers of the Staff Forum.
