Freshman Application for Housing

On-Campus Housing Application
Process for New Students

Please read all information about housing before completing application!

You must be accepted to ABAC before applying to live on campus. To apply for housing, you must know your ABAC ID (918____) and your ABAC student email address. If you do not know this number, click HERE. Room
assignments are made in accordance with the date on which the application and non-refundable reservation fee are received by the Student Life and Housing Office.

If you desire a specific roommate and/or suitemate, you must list the name and other identifying information of each requested person. Requests must be mutual, and each roommate/suitemate must have a completed application and non-refundable reservation fee on file before the request will be honored. Every attempt will be made to honor these specific requests, and, unless directed otherwise, roommate and suitemate requests will take precedence over other housing option requests (such as those for Living/Learning Communities).

Notification of Room Assignment

Room and roommate/suitemate assignment information will be emailed to your ABAC email address, as listed on the housing application.

For Fall Semester, the assignment information will be emailed on or around July 1st. For Spring Semester, notices will be emailed approximately two weeks prior to the start of the semester.

Each assignment letter will contain the following information:

¯ Your building assignment

¯ Roommate’s or suitemate’s name and email
          address

¯ Move-in dates and times for the specific semester

Freshman Residency Requirement

Living on campus provides many opportunities for positive student development and learning.  First-year students, in particular, benefit from the supportive environment of the on-campus community. For this reason, ABAC requires all new students to live on campus unless they
meet one of the following criteria:

¯ Living with and commuting daily from the legal
residence of a parent, legal guardian, or grandparent
within a 50-mile radius of Tifton

¯ Married
¯ Single parent

¯ 21 years of age prior to September 1, of the academic
     year

¯ Have attended another college for a minimum of two
     semesters

Waiver of Residency Requirement

Exemption from the Freshman Residency Requirement is not automatic. Freshmen who meet one of the above criteria and who do not wish to live on campus are required to complete and submit the Freshman Residency Exemption Forms.

This form with supporting documentation must be returned to the Office of Student Life and Housing at ABAC before a student can register for classes.
