      Funding is available for an Undergraduate Research Assistant position to conduct an independent summer research project on stink bug ecology in Bt cotton

      in collaboration with researchers, the assistant will design, conduct, and analyze data from an independent research project. 

      The assistant will be expected to produce a finished report of the research project at the end of the summer.  The position will be located at the US

Department of Agriculture Research Station in Tifton, GA and run from approximately 7 June to 31 August 2010, though the exact dates are negotiable.  The stipend will be $5,280 for the duration of the position.  Funding may be available for the assistant to present results from the project at a regional or national scholarly conference. The Hasentree Club is a new private Tom Fazio designed course that recently opened in October of 2007. Agronomic specifics include; A-4 Bentgrass greens, Tif Sport Bermuda tees, fairways, and rough. Some Meyer and Cavalier Zoysia are used on a few tees and rough areas. The irrigation and pumping system is Rain Bird. The golf course is also an Audubon Gold Signature Sanctuary. The candidate requirements include a 2 or 4 year degree in Turfgrass management and the ability to obtain a NC pesticide license within 90 days. The candidate should be willing to work the necessary hours, be a team player, and have good communication skills. The Hasentree Club provides a high attention to detail and exceeds member expectations. Job responsibilities will include pesticide and fertilizer applications and crew and project supervision including running a weekend crew.
