Procedure to Follow when Student Receives “Insufficient Academic Progress” Letter Due to Reduced Course Load
The procedure for determining “sufficient academic progress” by the University of Georgia is established by the Office of Student Financial Aid. Students who do not meet the requirement are sent a letter denying further financial support. The procedure for assistance from the Student Development Center is as follows:
Student Responsibilities:
1. Register with the Student Development Center by following appropriate procedures.
2. Contact the Student Development Center as soon as you receive an “Insufficient Academic Progress” letter.
3. Send a letter of appeal to the Office of Financial Aid.
4. Follow all other Student Financial Aid policies.
Student Development Center Responsibilities:
1. Ms. Annie Sims will review and staff documentation with other professional staff to determine if a reduced course load is a reasonable accommodation.
2. If determined a reasonable accommodation, the Student Development Center will send a letter to Student Financial Aid, indicating the student’s need for a reduced course load.
3. A copy of this letter is placed in the student file.
Note: If Student Financial Aid initiates contact with the Student Development Center, the same responsibilities (as listed above) apply to the Student Development Center, and it is still the student’s responsibility to fill out and return the appeal form to Student Financial Aid.
Note: Final determination of financial support is up to ABAC’s Office for Financial Aid and Veteran’s Affairs.
