CONSTITUTION
of the
ABAC RaCOONERS CLUB
Article I: Name and Purpose of the organization
Section A. The name of this club shall be the ABAC RaCooners. The name “RaCooner” coming from the words raccoon and hunter.
Section B. The purpose of this constitution is formed as follows:
1. To support the ones of the ABAC student body that enjoy the past time of raccoon hunting.
2. To promote hunting among the student body and in the Tift County area.
3. To make contacts and meet with local raccoon hunters in this area, so they can share experiences and knowledge about this sport.
4. To keep the spirit or raccoon hunting in this area alive
Article II: The Organization
Section A. The ABAC RaCooners Club is a local collegiate organization that originated at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
Section B. Members will meet, upon the designated day of the week and hold a regular business meeting. Will establish a program of activities, and adopt a constitution which will not conflict with any other organization on the ABAC campus.
Section C. A representative from the ABAC RaCooners Club will represent the Club at every IAC Meeting held through out the semester.
Article III: Membership
Section A. There will be two types of membership that of an active member and that of an honorary member.
Section B. Active membership: Will be open to any student currently enrolled in classes at ABAC. An active member must be in good standings and must pay all membership dues set forth by the organization head.
Section C. Honorary membership goes to any raccoon hunter of an older age in the committee any who may sponsor the ABAC RaCooner Club, any who may own land and let the Club hunt it, and any ABAC Alumni.
Article IV: Officers
Section A. To be eligible for a student office, the student must be in good academic standing, and have plans to attend ABAC both fall and spring semesters of the next year.
Section B. Officers are as follows:
1.President: This organization shall have a President with the duties of calling and running meetings and handling day-to-day affairs. The President shall be responsible for the registration of the club, completing the End of the Year Report (Summary of Activities), and all required paperwork for the continuation of the organization. The President has the power to organize committees, name committee chairs, vote only in the case of a tie, and be a member of every committee. The President shall also be responsible for checking the organizations mailbox and for disseminating information about other activities offered by other student organizations.
2. Vice-President: The Vice-President shall serve the role of President if the President is absent, unable to serve the duties of President, or if the President resigns. The Vice President should also be responsible for checking the organization’s mailbox and for disseminating information about other activities offered by other student organizations.
3. Secretary: It will be the duty of the secretary to conduct all necessary correspondence, reports, and evaluations of club activities. The secretary will keep minutes of the club’s meetings. The secretary shall take attendance of those present at meetings and record member contact information.
4. Treasurer: The treasurer is responsible for all fiscal activities of the club. This includes maintaining accurate records and approving all transactions involving the dispersing of funds from any source. They are also responsible for preparing periodic reports to the IAC and preparing the yearly request for funding.
5. Historian: The Historian will be responsible for chronicling the club’s activities throughout the year. This will involve taking pictures at events that involve club members and saving newspaper articles pertaining to the club’s activities and accomplishments. The Historian will also be responsible for organizing the members in completing the scrapbook to submit for Club of Year.
6. Inter-Activities Council Representative: The Inter-Activities Council Representative will be responsible for attending all IAC meetings and reporting the information back to the club members. It is the IAC representative’s responsibility to find a replacement if he/she is unable to attend a meeting. The IAC representative shall also be responsible for checking the organization’s mailbox and for disseminating information about other activities offered by other student organizations that are shared at the biweekly meeting of the IAC.
Section C. In order for a member to be nominated for an officer, he or she must apply to these Qualifications:
1. Nominee must be present to Accept or Deny nomination.
2. Vote count will be conducted by a Majority show of hands.
3. Present officers will in no way try to Influence who will be voted on.
4. Nominee will give a speech prior to election, to persuade to gain votes.
Section D. The term of office for all officers will be, from the end of spring semester of Year to the end of the next Spring Semester.
Section E. The officers shall be voted on by a Majority voted of the members present at the meeting when the elections are Held by a show of hands.
Article V: Qualifications of Voters
Section A. To be eligible to vote in an election a member must be an active member in good standing.
Article VI: Amendments
Section A. Amendments to the constitution shall be submitted in writing at a regular scheduled Business meeting. It will then be brought before the Club and voted upon by a Majority vote.
Article VII: Anti-Hazing Policy
Section A. The club will adhere to the Georgia Hazing Law detailed below:
GEORGIA HAZING LAW
(a) As used in this Code section, the term:
(1) “Haze” means to subject a student to an activity which endangers or is likely to endanger the physical health of a student, regardless of a student’s willingness to participate in such activity.
(2) “School” means any school, college, or university in this state.
(3) “School organization” means any club, society, fraternity, sorority, or a group living together which has students as its principal members.
(4) “Student” means any person enrolled in a school in this state.
(b) It shall be unlawful for any person to haze any student in connection with or as a condition or precondition of gaining acceptance, membership, office, or other status in school organization.
(c) Any person who violates this Code section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor of a high and aggravated nature.
Article: VIII: NON-DISCRIMINTATION CLAUSE
Section A. The organization agrees to adhere to all policies and procedures of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and all local, state, and federal laws. Members will become acquainted with policies and procedures in the official student handbook and other policies and procedures provided by Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. This organization is a viable functioning organization composed of undergraduate students and we do not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, color, gender, age, religion, national origin, veteran, disabled status, or sexual orientation.
