Autumn in New England!

Autumn in New England combines the color of the season with great destinations including the White and Green Mountains of Vermont & New Hampshire, the coastline of Maine, and the history of Boston & Newport.    The dates reflect the peak season for the Autumn colors  …. not to mention the scrumptious lobster, a tram ride to the top of Wildcat Mountain, a tour of Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream Shop, an overnight stay at the Foxwoods Resort and plenty of Kelly Tours VIP Service!  The following information includes an itinerary and other important features about the trip.

 

Text Box:  September 29 … Motorcoach from Tifton to Atlanta for a morning flight to Boston, the cradle of American history.  Upon arrival everyone will enjoy a history tour of the city including the Freedom Trail, Faneuil Hall, the Old North Church and time to visit the bustling Quincy Market.   Our Welcome Dinner will include clam chowder as we get to know our fellow travelers.  Overnight in Braintree.   D

 

September 30 … Breakfast is included daily on this trip.   Traveling north, we enter Maine and stop in the villages of Ogunquit, Perkins Cove and on Kennebunkport for a lunch break.  The community is best known for the President George Bush Complex on the outskirts of town.  The break offers time to see the colorful town’s picturesque setting, shops and restaurants.  Everyone will enjoy seeing firsthand how lobsters are harvested this afternoon during a lobstering demonstration / boat ride.   Afterwards, our tour continues north for a stop at the Portland Lighthouse before ending the day in Belfast, Maine. Home for a leisurely two nights, each room offers grand views from a balcony room at the inn … we sample delicacy from the sea at an authentic New England Lobster Bake tonight.    B D

October 1 …        Today features the scenic harbor towns which retain the atmosphere of an old New England village.  Fishing craft lie alongside the wharves that follow the quaint winding village streets.   A guided tour of the area includes the harbor towns of Rockland and Camden, a gourmet picnic lunch at Mt. Battle State Park, and wonderful views of Penobscot Bay.   The remainder of the day is at leisure to shop and have dinner on your own …. will you choose lobster again?  Why not sample the local favorite, a delicious “Lobster Roll” and watch the sunset from one of the many harbor side restaurants.  B L

 

 

 

 

 

October 2 … We depart the Coast and travel west to the White Mountains of New Hampshire.  The vibrant colors of Autumn come alive along the drive to Franconia Notch. This glacier-created valley has been a tourist destination since the 1800’s and provides a grand backdrop as we ascend the tram to the top of Wildcat Mountain and view Mount Washington, the highest point in the Eastern United States.  Our lodging this evening is nestled along the mountain of New Hampshire at the Grand Summit Hotel.    B  D

 

Text Box:  October 3 … Today enjoy the lovely New England countryside of New Hampshire. Board the Conway Scenic Railroad for a nostalgic ride across the famed Frankenstein Trestle and Willey Brook Bridge in which sheer bluffs, steep ravines, cascading brooks and streams, and panoramic mountain vistas paint nature’s canvas outside your window. This afternoon, includes a stop at a covered bridge and time to stroll along the quaint village of North Conway.    B

 

October 4 …  Travel today along the breath-taking Kancamagus Highway, a 34 mile stretch of road winding along the gorges and mountain passes between Conway and Lincoln.  Continuing North we arrive at St. Johnsbury and visit the Maple Syrup Factory to sample the by product of the colorful maple tree.  This afternoon we arrive in Burlington on the shores of Lake Chaplain, home for two nights.  Dinner is included at the Ice House Restaurant tonight and we sail via state ferry on Lake Chaplain.  B  D

October 5 …  A local guided tour of this beautiful area of the Green Mountains including the Ski Village of Stowe, a tour of the Ben and Jerry’s ice cream shop … (try a sample and learn the history of this local product), the Cold Hollow Cider Mill and a wonderful lunch at the VanTrapp Lodge which will leave you singing the songs from the Sound of Music!  Return to Burlington this evening.      B  L

 

 

October 6 …  Depart Burlington and continue south with a morning break at the Shelburne Museum, a   unique collection in a village-like setting of historic New England architecture, accented by a gardened landscape, impressionist paintings, folk art, quilts, decorative furniture, and a dazzling array of 17th-to 20th-century artifacts.  Continuing south the tour travels through small mountain towns with beautiful church steeples reaching to the sky amid the colors of autumn … timing allows ample opportunity to get off the bus and walk around to smell the clean air of the highlands before arriving to the Ski Resort at Stratton Mountain for the night.   Dinner is on your own at the down town ski resort area.  B  

 

 

 

October 7 …  Breakfast and we continue south out of Vermont and across Massachusetts and into Connecticut.  Home this evening is the famous Foxwoods Resort and Casino, billed as the largest casino in the world!  Dinner is included this evening and plenty of time to enjoy the entertainment found throughout the resort.       B D

 

October 8 … Departing from Foxwoods, the tour travels along New England’s pristine coast to the seaside town of Newport, RI.  Noted as America’s first resort, a narrated tour will highlight the 10 mile ocean drive, the Bellevue Mansions (including one admission) and shopping at some of Newport’s numerous boutiques along famed Thames Street.  The tour returns to “Bean Town” for the night to enjoy a cruise onboard the Spirit of Boston for dinner, dancing and the opportunity to celebrate our farewell in style. October 9 Morning transfer to the Boston / Logan Airport for the return flight to Georgia after this Grand Autumn tour to New England.   B

 

 

PACKAGE PRICE INCLUDES:    All airport transfers and intra-city transportation, airfare from Atlanta, eighteen meals, all tours and admissions listed, ten nights lodging, all taxes, luggage handling, worldwide trip protection, tour director and local guides.  All prices are based on double occupancy. How to Confirm Reservations:  Reservations will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.  It is important that reservations and deposits be made at the earliest possible date to ensure availability of a particular tour.  Payments are to be mailed to the address above, credit card call-in, or drop off payments at the Public Service and Business Outreach office at ABAC. 

 

 

Luggage Handling:  Luggage service on overnight tours is limited to one large bag per person.  You may also bring a small carry-on for which you are responsible.  Remember not to over pack.  Airlines will charge for luggage weighing over 50 pounds.  Airlines will charge a baggage fee for every checked luggage (not included).
