General Information - FAQ

With over 500 teacher-led and on-line classes offered each semester, our lifelong education program provides opportunities for you to participate in a wide variety of programs designed for professional development, personal enrichment, and recreation. As a general rule, there are no tests, no grades, and no admission requirements.  Instruction is offered in an informal and non-competitive environment. Our program is self-supporting.  Your course registration fee is used to pay your instructor and other course-related expenses; therefore, we must have a minimum number of students to hold classes or we are forced to cancel.  To make sure the class you want is not canceled, please register early!

While lifelong education courses do not earn credit toward a college degree, they do earn continuing education units (CEUs), a nationally recognized method for measuring noncredit course work. Noncredit classes present an opportunity to:

  • Upgrade or update career or professional skills
  • Prepare for finding a job or making job changes
  • Improve personal and family life
  • Become better informed
  • Learn new arts or skills for greater enjoyment of leisure time
  • Assist you and your children with your lifelong education needs

What kinds of classes are offered?

Adult classes range from professional development to personal enrichment as well as certificate programs (floral design; medical billing & coding; MS office; photography; landscape design; small business; and web page design). Kids’ College classes include academic classes as well as a wide variety of enrichment courses (examples: athletics; art, drama, & music; computers; language, reading & writing; science & math; this & that).

What about admission?

All classes are open to any interested member of the public. As a general rule, there are NO TESTS, NO GRADES, and NO ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS. No college credit is given for participation. Applicants are not required to send high school transcripts or take any entrance exam to attend. Certificate or professional programs may require certain professional competence for entrance. Classes are available for children and adults of all ages and are registered on a first come, first served basis.  Payment must be received for your registration to be valid.  Note that some classes have limited seating.  Register early to be sure you get the class you want!

What if I have to cancel a registration, can I get a refund?

If you pre-register for a class and find you must cancel for any reason, please let us know as soon as possible!  We'll be glad to process a full refund if notice is given before the first class begins.  You also have the option to transfer to a different class or we will be glad to give you credit towards a future class.  If you find you cannot attend, you may also send a friend or co-worker to take your place.
