Twenty-nine ABAC co-eds will compete for the title of

MS. ABAC PAGEANT ON NOVEMBER 11 IN HOWARD AUDITORIUM
TIFTON- Ms. ABAC 2009 will be crowned on
Nov. 11 at the 40th annual pageant at
The event will feature 29 contestants who will compete in casual wear and evening gowns. They will also be judged on a written essay and an interview with the judges.
The scholarship pageant begins at 7 p.m. in ABAC’s Howard Auditorium. Admission is $4 in advance and $5 at the door. Because of limited seating, the purchase of advance tickets is encouraged. These tickets can be purchased on the first floor of Gressette Gym in the Health, Physical Education, and Recreation division office.
Students competing in this year's event include Whitney Conner, an agri-business major from Abbeville, sponsored by the Agri-Business Club; Amber Singletary, a psychology and nursing major from Adel, sponsored by the Baptist Collegiate Ministries (BCM); Janee Clark, a physical therapy major from Ashburn, sponsored by the Christian Student Fellowship Club; Keegan Westberry, an early childhood education major from Brunswick, sponsored by the Men’s Tennis Team; Samantha Wessely, an animal science major from Clermont, sponsored by the ABAC Raccooners Club; Kristen Card, a pre-medicine major from Cordele, sponsored by the Residence Hall Association; and Shwana King, a pre-medicine major from Cordele, sponsored by the Student Support Leadership Club.
Other coeds competing for the crown are Amber Thornburgh, a physical therapy major from Covington, sponsored by the 4-H Club; Shanikqua Pinckney, a sports medicine major from Douglasville, sponsored by Alpha Beta Gamma and ABAC Entrepreneurial Society; Charlie Campbell, a nursing major from Eastman, sponsored by the Intramural Recreation Club; Ashley Carter, a diversified agriculture major from Folkston, sponsored by the Student Government Association (SGA); Jessica Kalina, a pre-veterinary major from Griffin, sponsored by the ABAC Honors Society; Amber Graham, a diversified agriculture major from Harlem, sponsored by the ABAC Rowdies; Kayla Stone, a landscape design major from Hiram, sponsored by the ABAC Horticulture Club; Anastacia Mills, a communications major from Jefferson, sponsored by the Political Science Club; and Chasidy Thacker, a history major from Kingsland, sponsored by the Georgia Association of Educators Student Program (SPAGE).
Other contestants are Kelli Shankles, an allied health major from LaFayette, sponsored by Agricultural Equipment Technology (AET); Lindsey Robertson, a pharmacy major from Lawrenceville, sponsored by the ABAC Cheerleaders; Kristen Evans, an interior design major from Macon, sponsored by the Family and Consumer Sciences Club; Alicia Leverett, a pre-veterinary medicine major from Milledgeville, sponsored by the Pre-Vet Club; Jennifer Rogers, a criminal justice major from Newnan, sponsored by the Campus Activities Board (CAB); Marisa Herrera, a psychology major from Ocoee, sponsored by the College Democrats; Jacklyn Kerch, an animal science major from Stone Mountain, sponsored by the Forestry and Wildlife Club; and Jessica Padgett, an agricultural communications major from Sylvester, sponsored by the FFA.
Others participating are Bianey Gomez, a nursing major from Tifton, sponsored by the Cultura Latina Club; Melissa McGill, a fashion merchandising major from Tifton, sponsored by the ABAC Tennis Team; Aisha Edwards, a physical therapy major from Waycross, sponsored by the Minority Academic Social Development Association (MASDA); Justina West, a music major from Valdosta, sponsored by the MENC; and Kristen Shipps, an agriculture communications major from Nokomis, Fla., sponsored by the ABAC Cattlemen’s Association
ABAC Director of Public Relations Mike Chason will serve as master of ceremonies. Andrea Willis, chair of the Division of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation, directs the event. Ashley Brown, Miss ABAC 2008, will crown the winner.
