MCGILL SELECTED AS FIRST RUNNER-UP IN MS. ABAC 2009

TIFTON—Melissa McGill of Tifton was selected as the first runner-up in the 40th annual Ms. ABAC event at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. Twenty-nine ABAC students participated in the pageant, which was sponsored by the Student Government Association (SGA).

McGill is a fashion merchandising major. At ABAC, she is a member of the ABAC Family and Consumer Sciences Club and was recently invited to become a member of the Omega Delta chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. McGill was sponsored by the ABAC Tennis Team. She is the daughter of Mark and Myra McGill. She also won the interview portion of the competition.

Keegan Westberry, an early childhood education major from Brunswick, was selected as Ms. ABAC 2009. Other finalists were Kristy Card, second runner-up, an agriculture communications major from Cordele; Jacklyn Kerch, third runner-up, an animal science major of Stone Mountain; and Jessica Padgett, fourth runner-up, an agricultural communications/mass media major from Sylvester.

Padgett won the Essay Award and the Contestant’s Award went to Kristen Shipps, an agricultural communications major from Nokomis, Fla.

Contestants were sponsored by campus groups, including clubs, residence halls, athletic teams, and student media.
