CARD SELECTED AS SECOND RUNNER-UP IN MS. ABAC 2009

TIFTON—Kristy Card of Cordele was selected as the second runner-up in the 40th annual Ms. ABAC event at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. Twenty-nine ABAC students participated in the pageant, which was sponsored by the Student Government Association (SGA).

Card is a pre-medicine major. At ABAC, she is a member of the Residence Hall Association, a senator for the Student Government Association, a Charter Board Member and a Student Affairs Board Member. Card was sponsored by the Residence Hall Association. She is the daughter of Chris and Cheryl Card.

Keegan Westberry, an early childhood education major from Brunswick, was selected as Ms. ABAC 2009. Other finalists were Melissa McGill, first runner-up, a fashion merchandising major from Tifton; Jacklyn Kerch, third runner-up, an animal science major from Stone Mountain; and Jessica Padgett, fourth runner-up, an agricultural communications/mass media major from Sylvester.

Padgett won the Essay Award, and the Contestants’ Award went to Kristen Shipps, an agricultural communications major from Nokomis, Fla. McGill won the Interview Competition award.

Contestants were sponsored by campus groups, including clubs, residence halls, athletic teams, and student media.
