Baldwin Players FALL PRODUCTION AT ABAC November 13-15

TIFTON – The Baldwin Players at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College will present their fall production titled “Almost, Maine,” on Nov. 13-15 in Conger Hall 319. Curtain time is 8 p.m. each night.

Baldwin Players Director John Galyean said the play by John Cariani is a quirky, romantic comedy whose setting is a village in north central Maine so small that the county surveyors could not really give it a designation of “village”. Hence, “almost” Maine.

The play takes place on one magical night in midwinter at 9 p.m. Mixing blue-collar realism with imagination and fantasy, the play deals with several couples who find themselves falling in and out of love, as well as finding out hilarious if not profound things about themselves and life in general.

“Think Northern Exposure meets Moonstruck,” Galyean said.

The first and second productions, staged in Portland Me., (Portland Stage Company) and in New York respectively, used two actors and two actresses who played five roles each.  Galyean has cast actors to play two roles each, with one actor playing three roles.

The cast includes ABAC faculty members Brian Ray and Jeff Newberry as well as ABAC alumnus Russell Taylor. Student cast members include Kym Stephens, Keith Lee, Michelle North, Caitlin Davis, Stephanie Mathis, and Rachel Green.  Kati Wheeler serves as Assistant Director/Stage Manager.

Admission is free to ABAC students, faculty, and staff; admission for all others is $5.  For more information, contact Galyean by emailing jgalyean@abac.edu or by calling (229) 391-4960.
