VALDOSTA RESIDENTS AWARDED SCHOLARSHIPS AT ABAC

TIFTON—Amber M. Garrett, Shantel J. Newsome, and Katrina M. Ryan of Valdosta and Christy E. Simmons of Lake Park were awarded scholarships at the recent Honors Day ceremony at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.

The awards, provided through the ABAC Foundation, were based on a number of criteria such as leadership ability, character, academic excellence, and financial need.

Garrett, an agriculture education major, received a $1,000 James L. Shepherd Scholarship. Newsome and Simmons, both nursing majors, each received $1,000 Shirley C. Hutchinson Memorial Scholarships. Ryan, a nursing major, received a $1,000 Mary P. Jones Scholarship.
