Ted Cowan
COWAN RECEIVES MASTER FARMER AWARD FROM
ABAC
TIFTON - Ted Cowan of Fitzgerald
received the Master Farmer award at the recent 2008 Homecoming awards ceremony
at
Cowan attended ABAC from 1965 to 1967, earning his Associate of Science degree in Forestry. He continued his education at The University of Georgia, completing his Masters in Forest Resources in 1970.
A farmer since 1971, Cowan is owner/operator of Colony Peanut & Storage, Inc., buying farmer stock peanuts for Birdsong Peanut Corporation.
From
Outstanding Young Farmer to the Farm Family of the Year, Cowan has won every
farm-related award that
Cowan serves as Vice President of the Ben Hill County Farm Bureau and is involved with the Ben Hill Young Farmers Association. He is on the Advisory Board for the Ben Hill County Extension Service and serves on the Board of Directors for the Colony Bank of Fitzgerald. He is a member of the Ben Hill County Development Authority.
He is an active member of First Baptist Church of Fitzgerald, attending the Sportsman Sunday School class. He is a charter member of the Century Club of the ABAC Foundation. He and wife, Frankie, have two children, both who attended ABAC, and three grandchildren, waiting to enroll.
