ABAC
FALL BAND AND CHOIR CONCERT NOV. 15
TIFTON – A brand new maestro with a familiar face will take the
conductor’s role on Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m. at the annual Fall Concert featuring
the Concert Band and Concert Choir at
Woody Leonard, the
longtime band director at
Leonard said the concert band selections will include “Salute to the Colors” by Bert Anthony and arranged by Karl L. King, “Legend” (Op.81) by James Barnes, “Tales of a Traveler” by John Philip Sousa, and “The Genius of Ray Charles” arranged by Michael Brown.
Dr. Susan Roe, Associate Professor of Voice at ABAC, will direct the 68-member ABAC Concert Choir in a variety of songs including Darmon Meader’s "Star-Spangled Banner," “Dirait-on" from Les Chansons des Roses by Morten Lauridsen, and "Where Dwells the Soul of My Love" by David N. Childs.
The ABAC Chamber Singers, an auditioned group from the Concert Choir, will perform “Set Me As A Seal” by René Claussen and “Hold Out Your Light” by Moses Hogan.
As an added bonus to the evening’s program, the ABAC Jazz Choir, comprised of 22 auditioned members, will perform two well known jazz favorites; “ I Won’t Dance” arranged by Alan Billingsley and “How Deep is the Ocean” by Irving Berlin, arranged by Rosana Eckert.
The Concert Choir will wind up its portion of the program with a performance of “Give Me Jesus” arranged by Larry Fleming and “Great Day” arranged by Ron Kauffmann.
