ALLISON WINS DONALDSON AWARD AT ABAC GRADUATION
TIFTON—Casey
Allison, a business administration major
from Dahlonega,
received the highest honor presented to a graduating student from
Allison’s award included a plaque and a check
for $500 from the ABAC Ag Alumni Council.
The award is based on a combination of academics and extracurricular
activities. Donaldson served as
president of ABAC from 1947 - 61.
A total of 165 students
participated in the Gressette Gym ceremony, which featured a speech by the Honorable George T. Smith, the only Georgian ever to have won
contested elections in all three branches of state government – legislative,
executive and judicial. Smith graduated from ABAC
in 1940.
While at ABAC, Allison has been
involved in a variety of campus activities, including Alpha Beta Gamma, the
ABAC Entrepreneurial Society, the Honors Program, Phi Theta Kappa, Baptist
Collegiate Ministries, Circle K, and the ABAC Forestry and Wildlife Club. He also served as a tutor at the
Allison received the Divisional Award
of Excellence in Business Administration at Honors Day 2006 and 2007, was named
the J.G. Woodroof Scholar in 2007, received the Miller Award of Distinction in
2006, was named a Phi Theta Kappa Leader of Promise for 2006-2007, and received
the John H. Dorminy Scholarship for the 2006-2007 year.
When he is in his hometown, Allison is a volunteer
firefighter and intermediate emergency medical technician for the Lumpkin
County Fire Department in Dahlonega.
Following graduation, Allison plans
to attend
