TWENTY-FOUR GRADUATE FROM 216th
TIFTON—Twenty-four
individuals from the South Georgia area recently received certificates at
graduation exercises for the 216th session of the South Georgia Police Academy
Basic Mandate Class at
Academy Director Ray Saxon said the Overall Achievement award for the session was awarded to Douglas H. Whiddon of the Bainbridge Department of Public Safety. Whiddon also received first place in Academic Achievement and served as president of the 216th session. Second place in Academic Achievement went to Phares A. Taylor, Sr., of the Albany Police Department.
First place in Firearms was awarded to Rodney D. Wells of the Albany Police Department. Second place went to Jonathan D. Lee of the Albany Police Department.
Other graduates included Deanna L. Cochran, Don R. Gandy, and Jason E. Godwin of the Adel Police Department; Dominic E. Figueroa, Jermaine R. Lewis, Phyllis D. Walters, Jarda M. Whitaker, and Erin E. Zupko of the Albany Police Department; Jared M. Boyd of the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office; Derrell A. Gilbert, Sr., of the Cuthbert Police Department; Humberto Dean of the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office; Christina L. Deese and Matthew D. Rose of the Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office and Dorothy J. Tucker of the Dougherty County Police Department..
Also graduating were Gary B. Hines of the Grady County Sheriff’s Office; Herbert E. Bennett and Justin M. Purvis of the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office; Angela W. Hood of the Nashville Police Department; Benjamin L. Herring of Tifton, sponsored by the South Georgia Police Academy; and Ryan W. Vicars of Brookfield with the Department of Motor Carriers Compliance Division.
